# Add static text content

This article shows you how to add and translate static text content on a page without the need for FORGE Back Office.

## When is static text available?

As a headless CMS (Content Management System), FORGE delivers the site structure to the built-in rendering engine and custom ones.

Static text addition is **only available for custom rendering engines**.

See the article [Introducing FORGE](/v1/docs/introducing-forge) for more information about rendering engines in the FORGE logical architecture.

## Adding static text

1. Select *Add text* in the right menu and select the azure-highlighted slot where you want to add the static text: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/17948921514268.png)
2. In the text editor, write the static text for the currently selected language. E.g., at step 1, select the first slot and enter *This is the static text for English UK.*: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/17948889767452.png)
3. Select *Save* in the bottom-right of the text editor. The entered text displays into the selected slot: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/17948889768220.png)

## Manage translations

1. Select the static text you want to translate, then select the language for which you want to add the translation. E.g., select the text added in the previous paragraph and the French translation: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/17948921517724.png)
2. Hover over the translation and select *Create*: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/17948921520796.png)
3. In the text editor that displays, write the translated static text: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/17948889772188.png)
4. Select *Create* to save the translated static text.
5. By changing the current language, the corresponding translation displays in the static text slot: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/17948889773084.png)

## Custom properties

The static text module allows being extended with custom properties that the Page Builder API sends to the front-end. For example, in the screenshot below, *Enable Animation* is a custom property added under the custom section *Animation*:

There's no user interface to define custom properties. Instead, you need support from your technical team to add custom properties through a dedicated API.

> [!CAUTION]
> **Warning:**Whenever you add or modify a custom property, you need to fix pages that already used the static text module. In the case of changes, you get the following messages: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/19431285212444.png)
