# Create live linear and EPG content

This article provides quick tips and suggestions for setting up and managing live linear and Electronic Program Guide (EPG) content. Learn essential aspects such as importing live content, understanding different types of live linear rows, how to display live linear content, and using the EPG page template.

## Importing live linear content

To add Channels to Presentation Manager, they must be ingested or set up by the backend team on a per-project basis. It involves steps like pulling the feed, converting it to our system’s data model, and updating the system with the new data. Channels cannot be added manually to AXIS Presentation Manager.

The asset catalog is where you can find all your ingested channels and schedules. To view it, navigate to the Assets menu, then select Channels.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** Search for specific channels or filter via the Classification System (MPAA, BBFC, AU OFLC etc.) alongside the age rating.

Below is an example of channels and scheduling within AXIS Presentation Manager. Each channel displays the channel logo, what's scheduled now, and the next two scheduled assets:

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** Select the thumbnail of a channel or asset to customize metadata and thumbnails post-ingestion. Please note that changes to metadata are overwritten at the point of the next ingestion.

### Types of live linear rows

EPG rows allow you to present multiple channels and schedules to your users, while the CH and CHD rows show one channel at a time only.

The difference between the CH and CHD row type is that CHD rows are specific to the channel detail system page, and automatically display content for the selected channel.

Full list of linear rows – (EPG, CH, CHD):

- CH1 – Channel hero row
- CH2 – Channel schedule row
- CHD1 – Channel hero row
- CHD2 – Channel schedule row
- EPG1 – Channel grid row
- EPG3 – Channel list On Now row

For more detailed information and visuals on each row type, visit our [Linear rows](/v1/docs/linear-rows) page and the [Pages and supported rows](/v1/docs/pages-and-supported-rows) article.

### Displaying live linear content

Navigate to the *Display* menu, then select *Pages*. Add live linear content to either the page header or row. As an example, select *Add Row* and set the filter to *Linear*:

For [CH1, CH2, CHD1](/v1/docs/linear-rows), and [CHD2](/v1/docs/linear-rows) rows, search for and select a channel:

Whilst for [EPG1](/v1/docs/linear-rows) and [EPG3](/v1/docs/linear-rows) rows, select a grouping of channels or all channels:

In the below view, add and define the following two optional properties: 1) a tagline to display under the row title and 2) a custom URL path when users select the row title:

For more detailed information and visuals on each row type, visit our [Linear rows](/v1/docs/linear-rows) page.

#### Using page templates

Presentation Manager offers pre-made page templates, enabling you to tailor the look and feel of your AXIS apps to your customer's needs, right out-of-the-box.

The *EPG (channel guide) page template* allows you to show your users the live channels you offer, as well as the schedules for each of these channels:

Visit our [EPG (Channel guide)](/v1/docs/epg-channel-guide-page) page for more information and visuals of the template.

#### Advanced linear EPG settings

If you have Admin privileges, go to the *Admin > Settings > System > Linear* page and configure your linear EPG. You can change:

- *EPG Cache Max Age*: The maximum number of minutes for which a channel schedule can be used in apps without getting refreshed. Typically set at 10 minutes.
- *EPG Days Upcoming*: Number of available upcoming day schedules. Typically set at 7 days.
- *EPG Days Past*: Number of available day schedules in the past. Typically set at 7 days.
