# DIVA Vertical video player

## What is DIVA’s Vertical video player?

DIVA's Vertical video player enables users to consume short-form social media-style content. Users can now enjoy quick-consumption content on DIVA, keeping users inside the hosting application.

With this development, monetization is more lucrative and there's no contract revenue-share agreements with social media platforms.

We've specifically designed DIVA's vertical video UX/UI and instinctive navigation patterns, aligning with social media style content, including:

- Gesture controls
  - Swipe left/right through video lists of vertical content
- Playback controls
  - Play/pause
  - Volume controls
  - Share content with friends
  - View progress of current video and collection
- In-feed server-side ads and content sponsorships

Enhanced capabilities coming later in 2025.

#### Navigating through content

Mobile and tablet users can navigate through content by swiping *left-to-right* to go to the next video, and *right-to-left* to return to the previous video.

Select the player's right arrow displays the next video (if there is no next video, the end of line displays). Select the player's left arrow to display the previous video (if there is no previous content available, the left arrow does not display).

#### Volume controls

Select the *audio* icon ![volume.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/19391094206620.png) to mute/unmute volume. Preferences are stored for the duration of the current session.

#### Sharing content

Select the *share* icon ![Share.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/19391094206876.png) to share the video directly to other apps, or copy a sharable link.

#### End of line screen

When users reach the end of all assets, the *End of the line* screen displays. Here, the left arrow is available, acting as a backwards journey to the previous content. By default, the *‘Back to Home’* CTA returns users to the homepage (the CTA label and journey are configurable).

#### Closing the DIVA Vertical video player

Select the *close* icon ![Close.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/19391094210076.png) in the top-right of the player to return to the page where vertical video playback was initiated.

#### Keyboard shortcuts

- *Right* arrow navigates to the next video
- *Left* arrow navigates to the previous video
- *Space bar* plays/pauses content
- Toggle the *M*key to mute/unmute the video
- *ESC* to close the vertical video experience
