# FORGE Q2 '24

## Overview

In the second quarter of 2024, the FORGE ecosystem provides editors with enhanced editorial selections and producers with version 1.0.0 of Page Builder, which now replaces the legacy visual Site Manager (VSM).

Under the hood, FORGE upgrades its underlying framework to .NET 8 and improves security based on penetration tests.

## What’s new

### Content Manager

#### Editorial selection items limit

![FORGE Q2 '24 - LimitOnSelection@newsletter.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/14682364965020.png)

The number of items in editorial selections may increase to a level that becomes challenging to manage.

Editors can now set a limit to maintain a manageable number of items in their editorial selections.

For more information, read our article on [editorial selections](/v1/docs/create-and-manage-editorial-selections) (including [localization](/v1/docs/create-and-manage-localized-editorial-selections)).

#### Schedule editorial selections publishing/unpublishing

![FORGE Q2 '24 - SchedulePromote@newsletter.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/14682371543196.png)

The refreshed user interface now allows for the option of setting a schedule for publishing or unpublishing editorial selections. This is particularly useful when planning the content release on the front-end.

For more information, read our article on [editorial selections](/v1/docs/create-and-manage-editorial-selections) (including [localization](/v1/docs/create-and-manage-localized-editorial-selections)).

#### Media assets management

![FORGE Q2 '24 - ReduceCostsOfMediaAssetManager@newsletter.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/14682364969116.png)

By configuring a CDN in front of the back-office, administrators can reduce ‌Cloudinary resources consumption when distributing media assets.

For more information, read our changelog [v16.11.0 - 20240415](https://wiki.deltatre.com/display/FORGE/v16.11.0+-+20240415).

### Page Builder

#### Navigation rules

![FORGE Q2 '24 - LinkRule@newsletter.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/14682364971292.png)

Producers define rules — we call them *navigation rules* — that dynamically determine which page renders which entity on the front-end, now available in an intuitive UI.

For more information, read our article on [the entity navigation](/v1/docs/the-entity-navigation) and how to [create and edit navigation rules](/v1/docs/create-and-edit-navigation-rules).

#### Smooth permissions migration from legacy VSM

![FORGE Q2 '24 - PermissionsMigrations@newsletter.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/14682371550492.png)

When switching from the legacy Visual Site Manager (VSM) to the Page Builder, permissions and roles from VSM transparently land on the Page Builder. This makes cost-effective the transition to the FORGE brand new presentation manager, the Page Builder.

### LIVE BLOGGING

#### Automatic links to detail pages of promoted FORGE content

![FORGE Q2 '24 - ResolveDeepLinking@newsletter.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/14682371553052.png)

In the LIVE BLOGGING back-office, a new feature — regardless of the technology used for the front-end — automatically links to the detailed page of promoted FORGE content on the website.

See more in our article [Create a blog post](/v1/docs/create-blog-posts).

## Technological changes

### .NET 8

![FORGE Q2 '24 - dotNet 8@newsletter.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/14682371556380.png)FORGE upgrades its underlying framework to .NET 8.

**Warning**: Client applications targeting the .NET version 6 cannot upgrade their dependency to FORGE 17.0.0 SDK.

For a detailed description of impacts of the .NET 8 upgrade on integrators, read the [FORGE 17.0.0 announcement](https://wiki.deltatre.com/display/DXP/FORGE+17.0.0+announcement) article.

## Small changes – but still important

### Content Manager

#### Tabs icon improvement

Now, when selecting a non-collapsable tab, its icon doesn't change. Previously, a misleading icon suggested the tab ‌be collapsable.

### Page Builder

#### General UI & UX improvements

- Added the slug to the tag labels to disambiguate them when many tags have the same title.
- Added validation for the menu 'link' property.
- Standardized look and feel of the snack-bar messages — which communicate the next action in the user journey.
- Menu items remain in focus when added.
- Displaying details of a module or layout when cloned.
- When crafting a page, the page slot that contains the layout displays the layout description.
- Fixed graphical glitches in the Authorization Group dashboard.
