# Entity editor's new UX/UI

## Introduction

Entities are the backbone of your content. The new **Entity Editor** makes them easier to create, translate, and connect. It’s built around how editors actually work — focusing on language, reducing clutter, and simplifying navigation between related items.

The main improvements are:

- **Language-centric editing:** Switch easily between localizations and translations.
- **Collapsible sections:** Show only what you need, hide what you don’t.
- **Quick navigation:** Open related entities, like photos in a story, in a new tab.

## Language-centric editing

In the old editor, managing multiple languages often meant jumping between screens. The new UI puts language at the center.

- The **language selector** on the left lets you switch between [*localized*](/v1/docs/translations-with-language-driven-workflow) versions (different content per language) and [*translated*](/v1/docs/translations-with-language-independent-workflow) versions (same content, different text).
- On the right, you’ll find **cross-language settings**, which are options shared across all languages:
  - **General settings**: Who [can edit the entity](/v1/docs/permissions) and whether the front-end can [list the entity](/v1/docs/list-availability) without restrictions.
  - **Context and tags**: The entity’s [taxonomy](/v1/docs/content-taxonomy),
  - **Promotion**: The entity [promotion](/v1/docs/promotion) configuration.
  - **Relations**: The [related entities](/v1/docs/related-content).

## Collapsible sections

Each section of the editor can now be collapsed, and your layout preferences persist.

You can focus on crafting the story or photo without scrolling past metadata you don’t need every time.

It’s a small change that makes long editing sessions feel lighter.

For example, in the screenshot below, editors can focus on crafting the story, anything else being collapsed.

## Quick navigation

When an entity includes others (for example, a story that contains photos), you can now open those related items directly in a new tab.

Hover over the item, click the icon, and the related editor opens without losing your place.

This makes reviewing and adjusting linked content far smoother than in the legacy UI.
