# Stage assets

Assets are your catalog of video and non-video content. Each asset contains metadata (including images), offers, and an internal reference to a video file if applicable.

AXIS supports multiple asset types that display in rows in the**Apps. How they display will depend on the available metadata, the selected row type, ‌how it's configured, and the user's app.

## What are Stage assets?

Stages are a sport-specific asset. They can be related to [*competition assets*](/v1/docs/competition-assets) — for example, the semi-final or final *stage* of the competition — and to one or more [*event assets*](/v1/docs/event-assets). In Presentation Manager, the ![Asset type - Stage.png](https://cdn.document360.io/2e698e3c-4773-44a4-9476-1d05bac85eee/Images/Documentation/4401883544850.png) icon is used to represent stage assets.

Use metadata to display information about the stage across your apps. Key fields will include:

- The *title* of the stage asset, e.g., quarter-final
- The *sport* it relates to
- A detailed or short *description* of the stage
- The *sequence number*, informing the order in which the stages are presented

### Stages in rows

**1. Display stage details on an event**

When a stage asset is related to an event asset, you can surface relevant information about your event stages in the app. This also applies to displaying competition information, if you have related an event asset to a competition asset.

The **STV3** row below shows how stage information is surfaced on the event asset tile – visible here under the event short description. (This example also shows *round* on the tile, which is taken from the event metadata field of the same name.)

**2. Use the ST3 row stage selector**

As well as being able to display the stage on the event tile, you can also enable the *stage selector* option on the **ST3 Events grid** row. This lets users filter events based on the competition stage, using the drop-down selector on the top left-hand side.

> **Note:** To activate this feature, you need to ensure that the *Display Stage Selector* toggle on the row is **on**in Presentation Manager.

Selecting an event takes users to the event detail page for more information. Depending on user entitlements and the event status, they can also initiate playback and watch the event.
