Release notes - FORGE Q1 '23

Prev Next

Overview

The FORGE ecosystem releases a full-headless CMS platform by decoupling the back-end and front-end. Now, front-end developers can chose the most convenient technology stack without any constraints from FORGE.

In addition, editors benefit from a better experience of the Content Manager.

What's new

Page Builder

Editorial teams benefit from the new app Page Builder to structure the front-end

The Page Builder is the next generation of the legacy Visual Site Manager, designed to provide web producers and editors with an intuitive tool to shape the front-end.

In addition to an intuitive user experience, when defining a page, the Page Builder is open to use assets that come both from the FORGE ecosystem and outside. It's the new concept of Page Type, which allows web producers to select different templates, layouts, and modules per page.

Front-end API

Front-end developers benefit from the new Front-end API that frees them from any technological constraint

The new Front-end API decouples back-end and front-end technologically. Front-end developers can now use the most rated and known frameworks, like React, without any constraint from FORGE.

What's changed

Content Manager

Editors gain story thumbnails per language

Thumbnails provide a visual reference of stories whose appearance may differ per culture: the Content Manager now allows selecting different pictures for each translation language of the story.

Editors benefit from a faster tag search and a sticky toolbar in the text editor

The Content Manager makes it faster to search for content by tag and makes it easier to manage long text by keeping the toolbar visible at all times, regardless of the length of the text.

Minor changes

  • Following results from a penetration test, the Graphic Asset Dashboard's security has been hardened with a permission layer.
