Connecting FORGE to external sources
FORGE provides a user interface and workflow that let you import editorial content into the FORGE Content Manager.
To enable the import feature:
You must implement an external feed for each entity type and source.
FORGE can import entities of the same type (for example, Brightcove videos or players) from multiple sources. Each source requires a dedicated external feed.
Each external feed retrieves data from the external source and converts it into FORGE entities.Administrators configure the external feeds.
How to import entities
Note: You can only import entity types that have configured external feeds.
To import entities:
Go to the entity overview page.
Select
.

Note: The Import button is available in all search windows. For example, when adding photos to an album, you can start the import workflow directly from the search modal and select imported photos for the album.
For example, for Brightcove Video entities, selecting
opens a page that lists the entities available for import.
Search capabilities depend on the configured external sources, as the import page queries those sources directly.

Use the Sources filter to list entities from a specific source. Pagination is available only when you filter results by source.

Select
to import the selected items.

If an error occurs, a popup lists the issues.
Successfully imported entities retain information about their source:
Datasource name: The name of the source. E.g., BrightcoveVideos in the screenshot below.
Datasource id: The identifier of the entity in the source system. E.g., 5581230485001 in the screenshot below.
