Introduction
In addition to the cross-entity changes, the new UI also delivers specific improvements for editorial selections, which are the most used tool for promoting content.
The new UI makes it easier to control what appears, how it appears, and in which context:
Localized versus not-localized: Identify localized and not-localized editorial selections
Pin and pick items: Editing manual and autofilled items
Limit items: Setting the maximum number of items
Set up a promotion context: Limiting the autofill to a context
For more and detailed information, read the dedicated article on localized and not-localized editorial selections.
Localized versus not-localized
Unlike the old one, the new editor explicit displays in the Entity type field whether the editorial selection is either localized (i.e., it has different content per language), or not localized (i.e., it has the same content for all languages but the main properties can have a different translation per language).

Pin and pick items
Editorial selections collect entity to promote in the front-end. The item list they contain is the core of this promotion tool.
The new UI delivers two new features that make the item list management more flexible.
Pin item: Pinning items ensures that their position in the editorial selection remains fixed and does not change due to automatic filling or edits.

Pick item: Picking an item refers to selecting a specific entity to replace an autofilled item. The selected item is automatically pinned.

Limit items
The new editor automates the control of how many items editorial selections can include.
It's now possible to set a maximum number of items, which limits manual and autofill.

Set up a promotion context
You can now define which entities are eligible for a selection by setting a context.
For example, if a selection promotes News, you can restrict the list so only entities tagged with that context appear. This ensures the right content surfaces in each front-end area.
