Overview

With the 2024 Q3 releases, the FORGE ecosystem provides editors with an enhanced album editor, Right-to-Left (RTL) writing support, improved custom entity management, and enhanced editorial selection search. On the other hand, Page Builder provides producers with advanced features to make it easier and quicker to craft the content structure, add content when defining a page, and an improved search.

Let's get into some details:

Content Manager

Refreshed album editor

Images are among the most engaging content. This latest version of FORGE provides editors with a renewed experience for managing albums.

Now, the editor:

  • Displays much more album data at a glance, making it easier to manage it

  • Gains the same appreciated modern UI of editorial selections

  • Refines the editorial experience when managing translations and adding metadata

For more information, read our article on managing albums.

Right-to-Left (RTL) language support

With this new version, the Content Manager supports entering, editing, and displaying Right-to-Left (RTL) text. RTL refers to writing systems that are written from right to left, such as Arabic.

Renewed custom entities overview page

Now, editors benefit from a redesigned overview page to manage custom entities. Main improvements are:

  • Configurable columns and filters

  • Powerful filters to search through custom entities

  • Improved response times

  • There are two options for viewing entities, either list or grid, and the ability to easily switch between them

For more information, read our article on searching entities.

Permission-based visibility for custom entities

The Content Manager now displays custom entities menu items — in the left menu — based on editors' permissions. The filtered custom entities make it easier to navigate the content manager since editors only see what they can access.

For more information, read our article on custom entities.

New search filters for editorial selections

With this new version, editors can search editorial selections by:

  • Mode: Whether the editorial selection items result from a manual or automatic selection

  • Type: Whether the editorial selections are localized or not localized

For more information, read our article on searching entities.

Page Builder

Reuse layouts

Layouts define structured parts of pages. With this new version of Page Builder, producers can copy layouts — including all nested modules and layouts — within the same page or from one page to another. This helps quickly structure and update pages by reusing existing configurations.

For more information, read our article on adding templates, modules, and layouts to pages.

Add static text

Pages structure content defined in the Content Manager. We've made the process easier. Editors and producers can now add text and manage translations directly to the page definition in the Page Builder.

For more information, read our article on adding text content to the page definition.

Simplified entity navigation configuration

Producers are now ‌able to reduce operational costs by defining their own entity navigation rules, without dealing with technical aspects. Before this release, the navigation rule definition needed to know how entities were coded. Now, producers can use the same entity names they use in Content Manager.

For more information, read our article on the entity navigation.

Streamlined search across the site structure

Producers benefit from:

  • A full-page view of the search results. This makes search results easier to explore when ‌page URLs are long.

  • Case-insensitive search. This makes it quicker to find results regardless of upper and lower cases.
