As part of AXIS 10, we’ve improved the Rules section of Presentation Manager, streamlining configuration and UX.
Notes: From AXIS 10 onwards, Account, Entitlements and Payments integrate with AXIS Services.
Account - Required to record purchases/entitlement(s) against user accounts.
Entitlement - Required to check an account’s entitlement(s) against required entitlement(s) for content.
Purchase/Payment - Required to purchase subscriptions/TVOD content.
What’s changed?
AXIS 10 simplifies the content offering model with re-worked Global offers functionality.
Deals and Global offers, in versions of AXIS previous to 10.0, overlapped, so bringing them together in AXIS 10.0 has made it easier to configure in one place. Global offers and the Offers they hold replace the Deals functionality, while the assets themselves hold the information about the Distributor.
Prior to AXIS 10.0, Deals acted as a container for managing the licensing terms agreed with the distributor (or ultimate owner) of your video assets, as well as playback rules and any offers inherited by the assets. From AXIS 10.0, the Global offer is the container, configurable with absolute dates, for Free, Subscription, Purchase and Rental offers. The Offers within it define when, where and how an asset is offered to a specific user group. It’s possible to allow multiple asset types on one offer. Offers can be applied directly to assets, and as they are held within a Global offer, inherit any absolute dates applied to the Global offer.
Assets are now ingested under a Offer rather than a Deal. This achieves the same entitlement purpose, but in a more streamlined way.
Global offers and Offers are created and edited within RULES > Global Offers.
Once published, Offers can be added to an item in ASSETS > Items > Offers.
Note: Plans functionality is currently in progress and will be available soon.
