This article introduces Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) functionality typically configured in AXIS Presentation Manager and Recurly, displaying in Deltatre Apps, helping to increase monetization capabilities.
Notes:
Deltatre App subscriptions are integrated with Recurly, a subscription management platform, and conform to a fully PCI-compliant payment journey.
Ensure you have a Recurly account in order to configure SVOD features.
What is Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD)?
The introduction of Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) support means that users must be subscribed to the service to unlock access to App content. Depending on the user’s entitlement status, the Subscribe CTA displays when content is configured to be accessible by subscribed users. This feature encourages users to subscribe to the service via a range of supported subscription plan types.
What are the Subscription plan options?
Note: Monthly, Yearly, and Season pass Subscription plans must be must be set up in both Recurly and Presentation Manager and Recurly and mapped 1:1.

Season pass |
Season pass plans grant users access to full coverage and exclusive content for the duration of a sporting season or defined period. Users can purchase a Season pass ahead of the season start date, during the season, and near the end of the season, as pricing adjusts accordingly. Season passes help to increase user engagement and brand loyalty by providing a premium viewing experience with simplified content access. |

Freemium (Free) |
Content associated with a Freemium plan requires users to register to consume content, therefore anonymous App users are presented with the ‘Register to watch’ CTA. On selecting a Freemium plan, users are encouraged to register to the application. Upon successful registration, they’re shown the Welcome page followed by the Homepage. Freemium plans are not associated with Recurly, set up takes place in Presentation Manager and the Front End Apps. App user experience:

Fixed time-period plans/Recurring payments
Fixed time-period plans, also known as Recurring payments, provide the option of monthly payments for a fixed time-period, e.g., a 12-month plan paid monthly. The number of months is configurable in Recurly.
Payments are taken at a set time, until the Subscription plan is cancelled. The following options are supported:
Monthly payments
Annual payments
Payments per fixed duration frequency, e.g., 3, 6, 9, 18, 24 months
Monthly payments expiring on a fixed date and renews on a subsequent fixed date, e.g., Season Pass (currently only supported on Responsive Web)

Configuring the Plan selection page
Note: The Apps display the Plan selection page, which links to the Choose plan AXIS Presentation Manager system page (AXIS version 9.9 onwards).
The Plan selection page displays key details about the available subscription plans.

Page title: For example, ‘Choose your plan’, truncates after two lines and is configurable in PM.
Plan segment buttons (optional): Displays tabbed plan details (monthly/yearly).
Plan cards: Displays the plan details, horizontally aligned.
Plan name: Displays the current plan title, truncating after two lines.
Plan price and interval: Displays the plan price (in currency based on App store), and the billing interval (monthly/yearly).
Plan call-to-action (CTA): Enables users to select a plan, taking them to the next stage.
Plan description/tagline: Information about the plan (max. length 85 characters).
Key plan benefits: Unique selling point of each plan; up to three benefits are supported, each truncating after two lines.
Terms and Conditions link: Provides users with the terms and conditions of the subscription. Details open in an Editorial page in a separate browser tab — Terms and Conditions page must be set up in Presentation Manager. More info below.
Configuring Plan card badges
Compatibility notes: Plan card badges are currently available on Responsive web and WebTV Deltatre Apps 1.3 onwards.
Plan card badges are used to better differentiate between plan options, e.g., ‘Best value plan’. Badge text is easily configured in Presentation Manager, while theming is managed via our Design System.
Configuring Plan discounts (percentage and fixed value)
Compatibility notes: Plan discounts are currently available on Responsive web and WebTV Deltatre Apps 1.3 onwards.
Note: Plan discounts are configured in Recurly, refer to their documentation as a guide.
Configure coupons (percentage and fixed value discounts) to offer App users a price reduction when purchasing a subscription plan. Users must apply the discount using the voucher code field to adjust the price.
When a percentage discount is active, the Apps display the discount badge with the percentage off, the slashed original price, and the new discounted price, e.g., Save 5%, whereas a fixed value discount example is Save £10.
Configuring Plan-specific vouchers
Compatibility notes: Plan-specific vouchers are currently available on Responsive web and WebTV Deltatre Apps 1.3 onwards.

Configure voucher codes in Recurly, which can be applied by the App user on plans you specify. For example, it’s possible to offer a 10% discount on Monthly plan types.
Configuring Fixed time period plans (Recurring payments)
Compatibility notes: Fixed time period plans are currently available on Responsive web and WebTV Deltatre Apps 1.3 onwards.

Fixed time period plans, also known as Recurring payments, support monthly payments for a fixed time period plan, e.g., a 12-month plan paid monthly. The number of months is flexible and configurable in Recurly.
Configuring the Plan payment page
Note: The Apps display the Plan payment page, which links to the Plan payment details AXIS Presentation Manager system page (PM 9.9 onwards).
The Plan payment page enables users to pay for their plan via a fully PCI-compliant payment journey. PayPal is supported as a payment method.

Step counter: Displays step 1 of X, indicating how far a user is through the subscription process (configurable per project. Progress updates depending on where the user starts the journey).
Page title: For example, ‘Choose your plan’ - copy truncates after two lines.
Payment method: All accepted Credit/Debit cards types display (up to 6).
Page name: For example, ‘Pay with’ - copy truncates after one line.
Subscribe to: Plan name: Displays the current plan title.
Subscribe to: Change plan: CTA directing user back to the Plan selection page.
Subscribe to: Price and interval: Displays plan price (in currency based on App store), and the billing interval (monthly/yearly).
Plan description/tagline: Information about the plan (max. length 85 characters).
Voucher code: Users can apply one voucher at a time. The ‘Apply’ CTA becomes active once data is input.
Payment CTA: Once selected, providing the payment is successful, the user subscribes to the service (copy is configurable).

The Terms and Conditions page displays when the Terms and Conditions link is selected during the subscription journey.
