Overview
This release introduces the following new features in DIVA 5.2 for Roku devices.
What's new
Accessibility features
We’ve developed further Roku accessibility features to make DIVA Player as usable and accessible as possible. New features include:
Badges
DIVA supports video list item badges to visually indicate further accessibility support for content before a selection is made. Video list items display an “AD” badge if an Audio Description track is available and a “CC” badge if at least one Closed Captions track is supported.
Check out our accessibility article for more information on badges. For more feature information, read our subtitles and captioning, and audio tracks articles.
Examples of "AD" and "CC" badges:
Screen contrast
We’ve made significant visibility improvements, meaning users can now control the semi-opacity design on specific UI (User Interface) elements (settings panel, subtitles panel, audio tracks panel, timeline event cards, and video list mode), helping to increase the contrast between the text and the background. Contrast is controlled via the Settings panel.
Example showing increased screen contrast disabled/enabled:
Subtitles and Captioning enhancements
We’ve enhanced the display of Subtitles and Captioning for better visibility, clarity, and sharpness of text. DIVA users can now enlarge the text by 25% and enable high-contrast mode, turning the text background opaque for clearer readability. Read our accessibility article for more information and our subtitles and captioning article for further feature information.
Example showing text size increased by 25%:

Text-to-Speech (TTS)
DIVA users can now take advantage of the Text-to-Speech (TTS) screen reader, providing audible descriptions of specific events and interactive UI elements. TTS generates a voice description upon receiving focus, stating the name, purpose, status, and expected outcome of an action.
Enabled at an operating system (OS) level, TTS can help users apply Subtitles and Captioning, audio tracks, and HDR settings, as well as informing users of when advertisements end and recognizing video list item badges. For more information, read our accessibility article.
