Assets

This article introduces assets and explains how to use the asset catalog to find an existing asset and view its details.

AXIS 10 enhancements for Assets:

1. Channel assets now have the Channel name above the language variants. This is in addition the the existing Title in the Asset Metadata side tab.

2. Fields showing the ID and Slug of the asset are now available to view and copy. These are displayed in the Asset Metadata side tab.

3. Configure the episode list ordering in the Asset Metadata side tab for a Show asset type.

4. Image badges display in the apps on the bottom-right of asset tiles on body rows and above the title in Hero rows. They are configured with Text badges in the Asset Metadata side tab.

5. When you add an image type of Logo in the Asset Images side tab for a Show, Program, Movie or Custom asset type, it displays by default in select rows as a Distributor Logo.

6. AXIS 10 simplifies the content offering model by replacing Deals with Global offers. The Asset Offers side tab works in conjunction with the new functionality.

What are assets?

Assets are your catalog of entertainment and sports content, both video, and non-video:

Every asset consists of metadata - including images - Offers, and, where relevant, an internal reference to a video file. See our asset metadata article for a breakdown of metadata fields by asset type.

Assets follow a workflow from the point of ingestion, which includes the process of acquiring offers. Offers allow users to interact with playable content.

Note: Assets are often referred to as Items in the API - these two terms are interchangeable. However, although Channels and Links also count as assets, they are not considered items, and are found in their own header menu options, separate to Items.

The asset catalog

The asset catalog is where you can find all your ingested assets. To view it, navigate to the Assets menu, then select Items.

Ingested assets are presented in a table, as shown below. Click on the table headers to sort your catalog by Title, Type, Date Modified, or Date Created.

How do I filter assets?

You're likely to have a lot of assets in your catalog, which is why Presentation Manager provides an extensive search functionality:

1. If you know exactly what you're looking for, find an asset by typing the title or ID into the   search field.

2. To filter the catalog and narrow down your search:

   1. Select the   link to display further search fields. Search by type, subtype, genre, keyword, category, distributor, deal, or status.

   2. To hide, select the   link.

   Any assets matching the search criteria display in the table below.

How do I view asset information?

Select an asset thumbnail or title from within the asset catalog to open the asset's detail page. The left-hand navigation menu allows you to view or edit asset metadata, scheduling, images, themes, offers, and related asset information.

The example below shows you the elements in the header on the asset's detail page:

Compatibility note: In AXIS 10 onwards, additional information now displays in the header including the Episode related to the Season.
